I had my 38 week appointment this afternoon and everything is still looking good! I'm now 2cm and 70% effaced- moving right along! My doctor was actually kinda surprised to see me; he thought I would have gone by now. Baby is measuring around the 8 pound mark already! Big boy!
The doctor stripped my membranes (for those of you who have no idea what this is, you can google it. It's not pretty or pleasant) and it was pretty darn painful! He did this because often times it can bring on labor in the next 48 hours, so we'll see! His other suggestions were the old wives tales- long walks, spicy food...you know, the stuff you always hear. We took a walk tonight and I've been busy doing things around the house. I guess we'll know in a few days if it worked!
He tentatively set an induction date for Monday, possibly Tuesday since I'm making so much progress on my own and my cervix is favorable, but he really doesn't think I'll make it that far. It's nice to finally see the light at the end of the tunnel, so we'll have a baby next week for sure! I can't wait! :)
